The original inlet for St. Augustine is Salt Run. It runs about 2 miles from the north end of Anastasia State Park all the way to the south end of the park about 1/4 mile north of the pier. This is one of few good areas to ride in a NW wind. You need a boat or kayak to access the beach opposite the Conch House. This is where you rig and launch for Kiteboarding Salt Run Slick. On a strong SE wind there can be an awesome slick here. It is best on high tide.
PRECAUTIONS: Booties or some sort of foot protection is recommended due to the oysters along the shoreline. Be careful not to go too far downwind when Kiteboarding Salt Run Slick during a SE wind. The point at the inlet is very rocky and oyster encrusted. You must be able to ride upwind to kiteboard at this spot.
