If you like clear blue shallow water, then this is the spot for you. This spot offers a huge area full of shallow water. The setup area can be small during high tide, but shallow water makes it a good spot to walk out a little way to launch. The tidal zone leaves a sandy bottom which turns into seagrass as it gets deeper. This area has rules and requires certification and personal insurance:
DIRECTIONS TO SPOT: I-95 to south to the end (US1). Make a left to Rickenbacker Causeway heading east. Toll is
$1.00. Continue the Causeway about three miles. Park entrance is on the left. Drive to the far north end of the parking lot. Walk north on the sidewalk and continue walking north following the trail to the beach. There is a lifeguard tower at the end of the trail on the beach. Launch north of the tower. Entrance fee to parking lot of $5.00.
PRECAUTIONS: Booties or foot protection are not necessary but recommended for beginners due to some scattered debris along the bottom. Do not kiteboard in west winds. This includes (NNW, NW, W, SW, SSW).
WIND DIRECTIONS: South Florida’s season for wind is October through April. Typical in season winds are 15-20 knots up to 20-25 knots when cold fronts pass though. Summer winds average 10-20 knots, with occasional 15-20 knot day from the south. North- side shore, Northeast-side on, East- on shore, Southeast-side on, South-side shore
