Cocoa Plum Beach – Marathon Kiteboarding

INFORMATION ON KITEBOARDING COCOA PLUM BEACH, MARATHON

If you like clear blue shallow water, then this is the spot for you. This spot offers a huge area full of shallow water. The setup area can be small during high tide, but shallow water makes it a good spot to walk out a little way to launch. The tidal zone leaves a sandy bottom which turns into seagrass as it gets deeper. A wider beach area can be found further down the beach by making a right when you get to the water and walking down. This is a popular spot for people to bring their dogs so feel free to bring the puppy. Park is open during daylight hours.

High temperatures typically stay around the 80’s. The wintertime comes with highs in the 70’s with temperatures dropping down into the 50’s on some nights.

DIRECTIONS TO SPOT: Turn off of US1 onto Cocoa Plum Drive just north of Marathon.

PRECAUTIONS: Booties or foot protection are not necessary but recommended for beginners due to some sharp rocks and scattered longspinned urchins.

WIND DIRECTIONS: ENE to E to WSW
